Collaboration restaurant Lona set to open in Tampa Marriott Water Street

Lona by Chef Richard Sandoval, a Fort Lauderdale-based Mexican restaurant, plans to open its newest location in Tampa, this month.

It will open in the space formerly occupied by Garrison Tavern.

With award-winning Chef Richard Sandoval and Chef Pablo Salas leading the culinary team, Lona’s arrival in Tampa marks a significant milestone for the restaurant brand, known for its innovative cocktails and a menu that is driven by contemporary interpretations of traditional dishes, according to a statement.

“The addition of Lona to our culinary portfolio comes at an incredible time as the expansion of the Water Street development culinary scene continues to rapidly evolve,” said Ron McAnaugh, area general manager for Tampa Marriott Water Street, in the statement. “Our longstanding relationship with Richard Sandoval Hospitality has flourished and with the addition of Chef Pablo Salas, we will have the opportunity to showcase their heritage.”

Lona will be open daily. Monday through Friday, lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with dinner hours from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, all day dining is available from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Happy Hour will be available, daily, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Three hours of complimentary valet parking is available for all Lona guests.
