Crews have begun work on more than $6 million in upgrades to the riverfront stadium, in downtown Tampa, what will be the temporary home for the Tampa Bay Sun Football Club women’s professional soccer team.
The stadium will expand seating to host more than 5,000 fans, with views of the Hillsborough River. Upgrades will also include new facilities for athletes and concessions, installation of an advanced scoreboard along with FIFA-approved turf.
The Tampa Bay Sun FC will play its first few seasons in the upgraded, and expanded, waterfront stadium, which the team will share with Howard W. Blake High School.
