One Liners Polk: Publix Supermarkets Charities, Bone Valley North and more

► Publix Supermarkets Charities, in Lakeland, donated $175,000 to Habitat for Humanity Hillsborough County to provide funding for the construction of two full home builds, to be completed by June 30, 2024. (Pictured above)

► Polk County’s Tourism and Sports Marketing Division will continue to partner with RussMatt, hosting a nine-week baseball event each year, through 2033.

► The Board of County Commissioners approved Polk County staff to pursue the acquisition of three sites nominated to the Environmental Lands Program including Bowlegs Creek Conservation Area, Masterpiece Road and FFA Agriculture and Natural Resources Center. 

► Polk County’s Fleet Management Division has earned the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence’s Blue Seal Certification for the fourth consecutive year.

► Bone Valley North, a 300-acre expansion with new tracks and campgrounds, opened at 10427 County Road 630, Mulberry. 

► Lakeland’s City Commission unanimously approved spending $1.35 million to buy a 2.3-acre parcel of land, at the southwest corner of Sleepy Hill Road and Mall Hill Drive, to serve as the future home of Fire Station 8.
