The Tampa Bay Rays and The Laundry Project are providing free laundry services to local families today, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at A & W Laundromat, in St. Petersburg. Volunteers, including members of the Rays organization, will be on-site to supply detergent, fabric softener and other essentials.
The event is part of an effort to assist families, including those affected by the recent hurricane, by offering free laundry services during a time of recovery and financial strain.
The Laundry Project, organized by the nonprofit Current Initiatives, helps families who struggle to afford necessities like laundry. Since 2008, The Laundry Project has cleaned more than 2.9 million pounds of laundry, for nearly 29,000 families, across 66 cities, in 21 states. The initiative partners with laundromats to provide free services in underserved communities.
