St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Foundation has announced that Scott and Kathy Fink, in Tampa, have donated $5 million to support children’s health care in West Central Florida.
Their gift will help fund the construction of a new, dedicated children’s hospital facility, set to open in 2030, which will be named Pagidipati Children’s Hospital at St. Joseph’s.
“As philanthropists, my wife and I believe there’s simply no greater impact we can make than to invest in a child’s life,” said Scott Fink. “It is an investment in family, community and an entire region.”
Scott Fink, a local business leader, became involved with St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital through his work with Hyundai Hope on Wheels, a national charitable organization funding research to eradicate pediatric cancer. The couple’s connection to the hospital grew deeper after their youngest son, David, was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at age 8 and began receiving regular infusions at the hospital.
“The medical team at St. Joseph’s – the doctors, nurses, techs and support staff – all work together and made a trying time in our family’s lives far less difficult,” Kathy Fink said.
BayCare recently announced plans to build the new facility, which will allow Pagidipati Children’s Hospital to further advance specialty care and research dedicated to children’s health. Currently, St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital shares some common spaces with St. Joseph’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital. The new facility aims to address the growing patient population and increasing community needs.
