Delta Air Lines named anchor tenant for Tampa International Airport’s Airside D

Jo-Lynn Brown February 4, 2025

The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority has approved Delta Air Lines as the anchor tenant for Tampa International Airport’s planned Airside D, a $1.5 billion project set to open in 2028. The agreement, approved Monday by the authority’s board of directors, commits Delta to occupy at least six gates and operate a lounge space in the 16-gate terminal. The contract term lasts up to 20 years.

Delta, the longest-serving domestic airline at Tampa International, currently operates out of six gates in Airside E and runs a Delta Sky Club. The airline has served the region for more than 65 years and offers the largest network at the airport, with an average of 36 daily departures to 13 destinations in 2024.

In recent years, Delta has expanded its service from Tampa. In October 2024, it launched nonstop flights to Amsterdam, its most-served destination in Europe, and plans to introduce nonstop service to Austin this year.

Airside D will be Tampa International’s first new airside terminal in nearly two decades and will serve both domestic and international routes.
