Tampa Bay History Center named one of nation’s best history museums

Jo-Lynn Brown December 30, 2025

The Tampa Bay History Center has been ranked among the top 10 history museums in the country, by USA TODAY’s 2025 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

The annual list is compiled by a panel of experts, with final rankings determined by public voting. The recognition places the History Center alongside some of the most prominent cultural institutions in the United States.

“This honor reflects the dedication of our team and the support of our visitors and community,” said C.J. Roberts, president and chief executive officer of the Tampa Bay History Center. “We are committed to preserving and sharing Florida’s history and this national recognition reaffirms that mission.”

The announcement comes ahead of the center’s latest exhibition, Invisible Immigrants: Spaniards in the U.S. (1868–1945), which opens March 1, in the Wayne Thomas Gallery, and runs through Aug. 3. The exhibit explores the history of Spanish immigrants who arrived in the U.S. in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Curated by New York University professor James D. Fernández and journalist-filmmaker Luis Argeo, the exhibition features more than 300 photographs, objects, documents and audiovisual materials.

The Tampa Bay History Center, a Smithsonian-affiliated Museum, is located along Tampa’s Riverwalk.
