Rob Lorei steps down as host of Florida This Week, Lissette Campos to take over

Jo-Lynn Brown March 8, 2025

After nearly 24 years of hosting Florida This Week, Rob Lorei is stepping into a new role at WEDU.

Lorei, who has led the public affairs program since its inception, reflected on his tenure, saying, “I’ve had the good fortune of hosting every week. We’ve brought together a group of panelists like no other, featuring some of the smartest people from around the state and country, all coming together for civil conversations on the issues that matter most.”

Throughout his time as host, Lorei welcomed elected officials, journalists, scholars, consultants, authors and community activists for in-depth discussions on pressing topics.

Paul Grove, president and chief executive officer of WEDU, praised Lorei’s contributions to the station.

“Rob has been an incredible pillar at WEDU, bringing unmatched dedication, insight and leadership,” Grove said. “His work has shaped Florida This Week and enriched the lives of our viewers. We are deeply grateful for all he has accomplished and wish him the best in his new journey with Perspectives.”

Lorei will continue his presence at WEDU as the host of a new interview series, Perspectives, which will feature conversations with notable guests, exploring their personal stories and worldviews.

As Lorei transitions to his new role, WEDU announced that Lissette Campos will take over as the new host of Florida This Week, beginning March 21. An eight-time Emmy Award-winning journalist, Campos brings more than 30 years of media experience, having worked as a reporter and anchor for CBS in Miami and ABC in Tampa Bay. She is known for her leadership in the Taking Action Against Domestic Violence campaign and has produced award-winning stories from Cuba, Russia and Guantanamo Bay. Most recently, she served as senior director of strategic branding, marketing and communications for the Tampa Bay Chamber.

Florida This Week will continue to air at its regular time on WEDU: Fridays at 8:30 p.m. and Sundays at 12:30 p.m.
