⊲ The Polk County Board of County Commissioners has approved $9.2 million in funding for 75 additional Fire Rescue positions to reduce overtime and improve work-life balance for emergency personnel.

⊲ The Florida Department of Health in Polk County will relocate dental services from its Auburndale clinic to its Haines City and Lakeland locations starting March 31, while all other services at the Auburndale clinic will continue.

⊲ The Lakeland Police Department has renamed its Street Crimes Unit to the Special Investigations Section Tactical Unit, though its function and mission remain unchanged.

⊲ Polk County has named Katelyn Hoverkamp as its new public and media relations officer, bringing over a decade of public service experience from roles with Polk County Fire Rescue and the City of Winter Haven.

⊲ The co-owners of Sabu Ramen are set to open Hakucho, a Japanese-inspired izakaya, in downtown Lakeland, at 207 E. Main St., next to Black & Brew Coffeehouse and Bistro, with plans to launch in April.

⊲ S&D Real Estate Services celebrated the opening of its new Bartow branch, at 160 S Broadway Avenue.
