Fifth Third Bank employees joined Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman C.J. Brewer to help pack more than 12,000 meals at Feeding Tampa Bay,  part of the food bank’s annual “Fifth Third Day” celebrations.

The event was one of many held throughout May, across Fifth Third’s 11-state footprint, aligning with the bank’s 5/3 calendar-themed day of service. This year’s theme: “Tackling Food Insecurity One Community at a Time.”

“At Fifth Third, we prioritize taking care of our communities,” said Kala Gibson, the bank’s chief corporate responsibility officer. “By fulfilling one of the basic needs that some families may have, we can help alleviate the stress of being concerned about where the next meal is going to come from.”

Since 1991, Fifth Third has used its namesake date, May 3, as a springboard for community celebration and giving. The Tampa Bay activation focused on helping local families through hands-on service and support of Feeding Tampa Bay, a regional hunger relief organization.
