Andrew Koenig rose from unloading furniture containers to leading CITY Furniture, one of Florida’s largest home furnishings retailers, with more than 2,500 employees and $750 million in revenue. As CEO, he introduced Lean Thinking after studying with Toyota in Japan, earning CITY a rare global partnership with Toyota itself.
He says his proudest accomplishment was earning the CEO title from his father and proving that operational excellence, a giving mindset and environmental leadership could coexist. “If you build a better team and culture of continuous improvement, you’ll win the game of business,” he says.
Koenig spearheaded CITY’s 5% Giving Pledge and 2040 Green Promise, making CITY an industry leader in philanthropy and sustainability.
