St. Petersburg College launches $100 million centennial campaign

As it approaches its 100th anniversary, in 2027, St. Petersburg College has launched a $100 million fundraising campaign to support students and expand its educational offerings.

The “Pathway to Better” campaign was announced during SPC Day, the college’s annual anniversary celebration. Funds raised will provide scholarships, new facilities and workforce training programs.

“SPC is more than a college, it’s a catalyst for opportunity and progress,” said Tonjua Williams, president of SPC. “As we approach our centennial, the generosity of our donors fuels a future of better jobs, brighter lives and stronger communities for generations to come.”

An independent study by Lightcast highlighted SPC’s economic footprint, reporting that the college generated $3.2 billion in income for the Tampa Bay region, in 2022-23, equal to about 1.4% of the area’s gross regional product. In Pinellas County, the impact was $1.8 billion, supporting more than 21,500 jobs, according to a statement from SPC.

SPC is also reinvesting in facilities as part of a multiyear master plan. Projects include a new Industry 4.0 Lab, at the Midtown Center in South St. Petersburg, to train students in semiconductors, robotics and advanced manufacturing, as well as expansions of its nursing programs, in Clearwater and Midtown.
