Fit2Run opens new store on Water Street ahead of Gasparilla

Fit2Run has opened a new Water Street Tampa store, creating a dedicated hub for downtown runners ahead of Gasparilla.

Fit2Run has opened a new store on Water Street in Tampa, giving the growing downtown community a dedicated hub for runners ahead of the 2026 Publix Gasparilla Distance Classic.

The 1,614-square-foot space sits on East Cumberland Avenue and will operate as a pop-up while Strategic Property Partners and Fit2Run work toward a permanent location in the district.

It is the brand’s second Tampa store and its 45th nationwide.

What the store offers

Founded in 2006, Fit2Run is known for its focus on everyday athletes and its selection of footwear, apparel and accessories for runners of all levels.

The Water Street shop carries major brands like Lululemon, On, Brooks, Nike and ASICS, along with emerging labels new to the Tampa market.

It also offers Fit2Run’s free videotaped gait analysis, which helps match a runner’s stride to the right shoe.

Why Water Street

AJ Velazquez of SPP said Fit2Run’s arrival strengthens the district’s focus on health and community.

“Fit2Run’s commitment to community runs, fitness events and supporting local athletes brings new energy to our walkable neighborhood and supports the active lifestyle taking shape throughout Water Street Tampa,” he said.

A strong local running culture

Tampa has one of the strongest running communities in the state, with thousands of active runners, dozens of run clubs and popular routes along the Riverwalk and Bayshore Boulevard.

Fit2Run CEO Parks Robinson said the new store is designed to support that momentum.

“Opening our new store in downtown Tampa is an exciting milestone for us,” Robinson said. “We are proud to contribute to a neighborhood that is redefining the future of Tampa and to create a space for local runners that supports group runs and fosters community.”

What’s next

SPP said the location will serve as an activation space for runners as the companies work to finalize a long-term home in the district.
