►The Hillsborough County Board of Commissioners approved the renaming of a portion of West Comanche Avenue as “Tony Alessi Sr. Avenue,” in honor of Antonino “Tony” Alessi Sr., founder of the Tampa-based, family-owned food manufacturing company, Vigo Importing Company. (Pictured above)

►BellaBrava: New World Trattoria will open in the mixed-use development Midtown Tampa.

►Ardurra Group, a Tampa-based company that provides consulting and engineering services to public and private entities throughout the United States, acquired LNV and will operate as LNV, an Ardurra Group company, from offices in Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Laredo, Texas.

A partnership between Banyan Street Capital and funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management announced the commencement of a $14 million capital improvement project for Tampa City Center, a 38-story, 757,425-square-foot office tower, in downtown Tampa.

►Avalon Healthcare Solutions, a health care information technology company focused on medical benefit management, is expanding its corporate office in Tampa with plans to create positions in such areas as IT, data analytics, database management and finance.

►Simon Property Group and Taubman Centers (NYSE: TCO), owner and manager of International Plaza in Tampa, have a definitive agreement under which Simon will acquire an 80 percent ownership interest in The Taubman Realty Group Limited Partnership, a deal valued at $3.6 billion.

►The Taco Bus at the USF location, at 2320 E. Fletcher Ave., Tampa, has reopened after a remodel.

►Checkers and Rally’s named Frances Allen CEO, and a member of the company’s board of directors, succeeding Rick Silva.

►Matt Newton, a lawyer at Shumaker Loop & Kendrick, has been elected to serve as chairman of the Hillsborough County Human Relations Board.

►Communications, an Atlanta company that designs and builds 5G cellular towers, has opened an office in Tampa.

►Roger West, a marketing agency in Tampa, named Jennie Treby its new president.

Tanya Cielo was the “2020 Volunteer of the Year.”

►The South Tampa Chamber of Commerce named local marketer Tanya Cielo as the “2020  Volunteer of the Year” at the chamber’s annual meeting and awards dinner. 

►University of South Florida President Steven C. Currall announced the appointment of Jay Stroman as senior vice president of advancement and alumni affairs and CEO of the USF Foundation.

►The University of South Florida Institute of Applied Engineering and U.S. Special Operations Command entered into a new five-year contract, worth a maximum value of $85 million, that calls for the USF Institute of Applied Engineering’s expertise in applied research and advanced technology development to be used to support the command’s needs in a range of scientific and engineering disciplines.

►Jonathan “Tre” Dixon III was promoted to shareholder at the Tampa office of Carlton Fields.

►Jennifer Cowan joined the Tampa office of Bryant Miller Olive as a lawyer, focusing her practice on state and local government law, including subject matter expertise in employment law matters. 

►Beef ‘O’ Brady’s unveiled a new corporate-owned prototype restaurant at 889 E. Bloomingdale Ave., Brandon.

►Suncoast Credit Union opened its 70th branch, the Galleria Service Center, located at 4340 W. Hillsborough Ave, Suite 704, Tampa.

►Marcus & Millichap (NYSE: MMI) named Jason Hague and Ned Roberts, of the company’s Tampa office, first vice president for investments and vice president for investments, respectively.   

►Kitchen Tune-Up, a national kitchen remodeling company, expanded into Tampa.

►Office Evolution, a coworking franchisor, opened a location in Harbour Island in Tampa.

►Denholtz Properties, a New Jersey-based developer and investor, acquired a nine-building office portfolio near the Tampa International Airport for $26.54 million.

The Tampa Bay United Rowdies, the youth affiliate soccer program for the Tampa Bay Rowdies, named Tricia Taliaferro director of technical development for the soccer club’s girls’ program.
