Ernest Hooper joins United Way Suncoast as vice president of communications

United Way Suncoast has named Ernest Hooper as its vice president of communications, effective March 1.

Hooper was previously the communications director for the American Cancer Society’s southwest Florida division.

Before joining ACS, Hooper was a columnist, editor, sportswriter and ambassador for the Tampa Bay Times.

“We are excited to have Ernest join the United Way Suncoast team. His experience and strength in telling our community’s stories is a natural fit and will be a tremendous asset to our region. We know that sharing the critical needs of our community and telling the stories of so many organizations, and individuals, who are making an impact is critical to our work,” said Jessica Muroff, CEO of United Way Suncoast, in a statement.
