The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence awarded Polk County’s Fleet Management Division with its highest honor, the ASE Blue Seal of Excellence.

The Miller Planetarium

The Miller Planetarium, the final building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright at Florida Southern College, in Lakeland, is undergoing a massive restoration on the exterior and, upon completion, will be open for students and the general public.

Daily Amtrak service on the Silver Star and Silver Meteor will return to Lakeland and Tampa in June, after being cut because of the coronavirus pandemic, and now that Amtrak is receiving new funding via the American Rescue Plan passed by Congress.

Emily Colón, Lakeland’s assistant city manager, was listed among seven “women that are breaking down barriers and leading the next generation of the local government profession” by PM, the magazine of the International City/County Management Association.

Green Island Ranch

Dusty Calderon, a senior adviser at SVN|Saunders Ralston Dantzler Real Estate, in Lakeland, announced the listing of Green Island Ranch, in Osceola County, located 25 minutes from Walt Disney World, for sale at $140 million.

The Bank of Central Florida, headquartered in Lakeland, named J. Kevin Riffey as executive vice president and Small Business Administration executive.

Watson Clinic added physician Karen Chabrier as an urgent care specialist at 1033 N. Parkway Frontage Road, in Lakeland.
