Tommy Del Zoppo assumes role of CEO at New Hotel Collection

Tommy Del Zoppo, one of the founders of New Hotel Collection, has assumed the role of chief executive officer of the company, which is currently working on a major expansion of the historic Cordova Inn, in downtown St. Petersburg.

Del Zoppo, who previously served as chief investment officer for New Hotel Collection, succeeds Alex Hodges who has taken an extended medical leave.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead New Hotel Collection as we continue the successful trajectory we maintained through the pandemic,” Del Zoppo said, in a statement. “We will be focused on maintaining our quality operations on the Pinellas County beaches and in Sevierville while expanding the Cordova Inn, which combines modern amenities with a look that honors the spirit of the original historic hotel.”

New Hotel Collection, which also has ownership stakes in hotels in Indian Rocks Beach, Indian Shores and Sevierville, Tennessee, soon will be expanding the Cordova Inn from 32 to 95 rooms, while adding a restaurant, rooftop area and courtyard garden. Demolition of a property next door to the Cordova to make room for the addition is underway, with the expansion expected to open in 2023.

Del Zoppo previously held senior management positions in equity global trading at JPMorgan Chase & Co., HSBC and Citigroup Global Banking and Markets, before moving to St. Petersburg from New York City and co-founding New Hotel Collection. He started his career as an analyst at Goldman Sachs and is a graduate of Columbia University in New York City.
