South Tampa Chamber names Citizen of the Year 2023

The South Tampa Chamber named Connie Gage as 2023 Citizen of the Year.

Gage is a real estate specialist with Smith & Associates Real Estate. She was the 2019-2020 Chair of the Board for the South Tampa Chamber and has previously been recognized by the Chamber as a Community Champion and as the Member of the Year.

She most recently received the Smith and Associates Community Service Award, in 2021, and was named the Rotary Club of Tampa’s “Rotarian of the Year,” in 2022.

“Connie leads with love, empathy and generosity and inspires me to be a better person. She never misses an opportunity to volunteer, whether it be with the Chamber, Rotary, local non-profits or even just to take an elderly neighbor to lunch. She generously shares her time, talent and treasure every, single, day and is the very definition of a kind person. Through her leadership and volunteerism, the Board wishes to express its sincere gratitude, and appreciation, to Connie and to recognize her as the South Tampa Chamber’s 2023 Citizen of the Year,” said Chair of the Board Rebekah Nault, in a statement.

Gage is a third Generation Tampa native and has been a volunteer in the Tampa Bay area for more than three decades, according to a statement.

She currently serves as a volunteer with Metropolitan Ministries, Meals on Wheels, Rotary Club of Tampa Bay and the South Tampa Chamber. She has held leadership positions with LAMPLighters of Tampa Bay, A Kids Place of Tampa Bay, Tampa Museum of Art, Rotary Club of Tampa Bay, the South Tampa Chamber, Greater Brandon Chamber and was the 2009 Honorary Mayor of Brandon. She has also served on the City of Tampa Police Department Chief’s Citizen Advisory Council.

Gage will be honored at the South Tampa Chamber’s Awards Dinner, on February 9, at Steinbrenner Field.
