Calvary Christian College to launch in Clearwater this fall

Jo-Lynn Brown May 29, 2025

Calvary Church, a faith institution in Clearwater, is expanding its educational mission with the launch of Calvary Christian College. The higher education institution will open its doors on August 18, 2025, offering Christ-centered academic programs designed to prepare students for ministry and leadership roles, both locally and globally.

“Calvary Christian College helps students fulfill God’s calling while receiving a top-notch education that prepares them for today’s marketplace,” said Dr. David Rice, dean of Calvary Christian College. “I’m thrilled to invite new students into this rich environment where their spiritual and academic journeys can coalesce.”

The college will offer certificates, associate and bachelor’s degrees in ministry-focused disciplines including Biblical studies, cross-cultural missions, pastoral ministry, worship and production ministry and youth ministry.

Originally founded in 1866 as Midway Baptist Church, it was the first church established in Clearwater and the first Baptist church in Pinellas County.
