Venice Crossing Plans Home Depot, Walmart Stores

Venice Crossing’s developer plans to bring Home Depot and Walmart to the 82-acre shopping center under construction along Laurel Road in Venice.

The applicant says Walmart owns about 20 acres, while the site plan places a proposed 170,995-square-foot store on an 18.69-acre parcel. The adjoining 11.29-acre tract is laid out for the second big-box store, which the developer identifies as Home Depot. Home Depot has not announced the Venice Crossing location, and the plans do not disclose the size of its proposed store.

The two anchors would sit about 900 feet from Laurel Road, leaving 12 smaller commercial sites between the stores and passing traffic. The plans identify RaceTrac for one of those sites, while Mavis Tires & Brakes is advancing a 7,095-square-foot service center with eight repair bays. No tenants are identified for the remaining sites.

Two signalized entrances from Laurel Road will feed an internal road connecting the anchors with the smaller storefronts.

The developer expects to finish the shared site work this summer, followed by construction on the individual parcels. The first businesses could open in spring 2027.

The Venice Planning Commission will consider the development’s proposed sign plan Aug. 18.
