The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Indian Advisory Council held its annual awards banquet Sept. 16 at The Motor Enclave in Tampa, bringing together business leaders, law enforcement representatives and community members for an evening of recognition and fundraising. Kuleen Shah, the event’s co-chair, helped organize the banquet, which included an awards ceremony and silent auction. Final fundraising and attendance figures have not been confirmed.
Founded in 2014 by Dr. Vipul Kabaria, the council works to strengthen relationships between the Sheriff’s Office and the Indian-American community, with charitable initiatives supporting children attending Title I schools throughout Hillsborough County. The organization also partners with the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay to connect families with local resources and has sought to recruit younger Indian Americans and additional business sponsors.
