Go inside Midtown Tampa as retail shops and restaurants open (PHOTOS)

There’s a buzz in Midtown Tampa this week. The $500 million project is close to some major openings and is celebrating one of its most anticipated, Tampa’s first Shake Shack.

Up next, a Sephora and a Whole Foods, both completing the finishing touches before they open their doors to the public.

Sal Y Mar, a rooftop bar atop the Aloft and Element branded hotels, is open for business. But make a reservation if you plan to visit for dinner, says Midtown’s General Manager Kathy Hacksaw.

Apartments are being moved into and roads are still being paved. Chef Chris Ponte’s restaurant is still under construction, as is the future location of the Hall on Franklin’s new location.

Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Company has its sign up and are still working on an outdoor patio area that will overlook a grassy event space. Workers are still wiring sound into the ground for small-scale concerts. The owner of Joffrey’s has applied for a liquor license, to provide another spot to grab a drink and take in a show.

Midtown will have an F45 location, a pharmacy, an upscale pet store and pretty much anything else one would need if they worked from home and never wanted to leave.

The master developer for the project is Bromley Companies.
