One Liners Polk: Florida Southern College, Culver’s and more

Florida Southern College will move its graduate nursing program into the former campus of St. Joseph Academy, a private K-8 school that the Catholic Church’s Diocese of Orlando shuttered after the 2019-2020 school year.

Culver’s, a Wisconsin-based restaurant chain, is opening in Highland City, along US 98, at Clubhouse Road and another location is planned on US 98, north of I-4, near Walmart and Sam’s Club.

Peace River Center, a nonprofit behavioral health organization serving Polk, Hardee and Highlands Counties, opened an outpatient behavioral health location in Lake Wales and will open a new mental illness recovery program in Haines City.

The Well business center, a collaborative workspace at 114 E. Parker St. in Lakeland’s Midtown neighborhood, is scheduled to open in early 2022.

Pressed, a 2,000-square-foot independent bookstore, is scheduled to open at 213 E. Bay St., Lakeland.

Lakeland Fire Department driver engineer and paramedic Derek McBrayer received the Florida Elks Association First Responder of the Year-Firefighter Award at their 115th Annual Convention at the Rosen Centre in Orlando.
