WHAT CHALLENGES HAVE YOU FACED IN YOUR CAREER? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THOSE CHALLENGES?

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced in my career as a loan originator is the drastic fluctuations in the market. Over the past year, rates rose faster, and higher, than they have since 1959, which caused a dramatic slowdown in business. Then, on the flip side, rates had previously dropped to a historic low causing an influx in business.

The most important challenge is making sure our level of customer service, and care for our clients and realtors, remain the same. That is what truly separates our team from the rest. Knowing we are prepared for this transition when the market will flip again.

It’s a cyclical process. I’ve found, over the years, that communication with my team is key. I strive to be transparent with my team as well as provide training to make sure everyone is constantly “in the know.” With every challenge, or obstacle, my team is not only learning but I want them to feel truly supported. If they feel cared for, then I know they will continue to support and serve our clients and realtors during this time, when it’s harder to create more products and guidelines are tightening.

A strategy that I’ve learned, and implemented, during challenging times is to shift my team’s focus on aspects within the business that are in our control. Trying to never act from a place of fear. Through this, I think it made our team, our relationships and our brand within the local community stronger. And for that, I am extremely thankful.
