► Coffee roaster and restaurant King State opened in the Harlan Hotel building, at 15 8th Street North, St. Petersburg. 

► HaleLife Bakery opened, at 11270 4th Street North, St. Petersburg. 

► Wicked Cantina plans to open, at 3650 Tyrone Boulevard North, St. Petersburg, in a building that was previously occupied by a Sonny’s BBQ franchise. 

► Economic Impact Catalyst, the Clearwater-based technology and market research firm for entrepreneurship-led economic development, has named Kim Vogel as chief strategy officer. 

Carl R. Lavender

► The St. Petersburg Housing Authority has received a $1 million grant that is going toward its $29 million development of apartment housing for senior citizens in the former Edward White Hospital. 

► Mayor Kenneth T. Welch has named Carl R. Lavender Jr. the interim chief equity officer for the City of St. Petersburg.

► Climate First Bank, based in St. Petersburg, won a LEED platinum certification, the highest LEED rating, for its Winter Park branch. 

► Clearwater High School completed a $59 million reconstruction that included the demolition of 17 existing buildings. 

► Caribou Coffee opened, at 701 Central Avenue, in St. Petersburg.

► The Brothers Thomas Bespoke Café opened on the ground floor of the WaterView Echelon City Center apartment building, at 176 Carillon Parkway, in St. Petersburg. 

► Mullet’s Fish Camp will debut a new location, at Tropicana Field, in St. Petersburg. 

► HCA Florida Northside Hospital appointed local attorney Oxalis B. Garcia to the hospital’s Board of Trustees.  

► Paloma Azul, a San Diego-based life sciences company affiliated with Amaratek, has purchased a 33,846-square-foot industrial property, at 150 Douglas Ave., in Dunedin, for $3.9 million. 

► The College of Nursing at St. Petersburg College is partnering with HCA Florida Healthcare on the Linking Industry to Nursing Education grant, which incentivizes collaboration between nursing education programs and health care partners in reducing the shortage of nurses in the state. 

► Marcus & Millichap announced the sale of two beachside shopping centers in Indian Shores and Redington Shores that sold for a combined price of $5,380,000.
