Tampa’s Bryan Stern honored with National Medal of Honor Citizen Award

Tampa-based veteran and nonprofit founder Bryan Stern has been named one of six recipients of the prestigious Medal of Honor Citizen Honors Awards for 2024. Stern, the chairman and founder of Grey Bull Rescue, is being recognized as this year’s Service Act Honoree for his dedication to serving Americans, both in and out of military uniform.

The Congressional Medal of Honor Society, an organization comprised of the 61 living Medal of Honor recipients, will present the awards on March 25, National Medal of Honor Day, in Arlington, Virginia. The annual Citizen Honors Awards celebrate civilians and organizations that exemplify the core values of the Medal of Honor: courage, sacrifice, integrity, commitment, citizenship and patriotism.

Stern’s organization, Grey Bull Rescue, provides critical assistance and rescue operations, particularly in crisis situations.

The awards ceremony, emceed by ABC News’ Chief Global Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz, will include a symbolic tradition where Medal of Honor recipients personally place the Citizen Honors medallion around the honorees’ necks. The event follows a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery, commemorating those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
