Precision Build acquires Tampa Steel Erecting Company

Jo-Lynn Brown April 2, 2025

Precision Build has acquired Tampa Steel Erecting Company, a longtime Tampa-based steel fabricator known for its work on major infrastructure and architectural projects, including the geodesic dome at Epcot’s Spaceship Earth.

Tampa Steel Erecting Company, founded in 1945 and owned by the Clark family since its inception, will now be wholly owned by Precision Build. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition expands Precision Build’s capacity, and reach, in the structural steel sector. The Tampa Steel facility, located six miles from Precision Build’s headquarters in Gibsonton, sits on 33 acres and includes more than 220,000 square feet of fabrication space.

Bob Clark, who has led the company for decades, will remain president, under the new ownership. The combined organization will operate under the direction of Corey Yraguen, president and chief executive officer of Precision Build Solutions.

Tampa Steel Erecting’s portfolio includes steel for the 39-story One Tampa City Center, the trusses at Airside F of Tampa International Airport and fabrication work for Tampa Electric’s Big Bend Power Station #4.

Clark said the decision to sell the company was not difficult. “We’ve found a home for our team and a future for the company,” he said. “Customers should continue to expect the same quality and service.”

The Tampa Steel Erecting Company name will be retained.

Precision Build was formed in 2020 through the merger of Tampa Tank Inc.-Florida Structural Steel and Precision Tank Inc. and is an affiliate of BRANDT.
