LD&D secures $5.4 million grant to add workforce housing at DoMo at Cass Square

Jo-Lynn Brown September 5, 2025

Miami-based real estate firm LD&D has been awarded a $5.4 million workforce housing grant from the Tampa Community Redevelopment Agency to support the inclusion of 30 income-eligible apartments at DoMo at Cass Square, a $200 million mixed-use project in downtown Tampa.

The units will account for about 10 percent of a planned 27-story multifamily tower, at 1110 East Cass St., Residents who earn between 80 and 140 percent of the area median income will qualify for the apartments.

The project aligns with Tampa’s 2024 Housing Implementation Plan, which emphasizes attainable housing in high-opportunity neighborhoods, according to a statement.

“We are proud to support LD&D’s DoMo at Cass Square through this grant,” said Cedric McCray, Tampa’s Community Redevelopment Agency director. “Integrating workforce housing into a high-profile project like this sends a powerful message: those who keep our community running deserve a place in its future.”

When complete, DoMo at Cass Square will include 360 apartments, 40,000 square feet of retail, a 574-space parking podium and a rooftop restaurant and lounge. It will also feature more than 25,000 square feet of amenities such as a pool deck with cabanas, co-working lounge, wellness spa and kids’ playroom. The tower is set to become the tallest residential building in the Encore and Gasworx District.

Cass Square will also include a 178-room Element by Westin hotel, developed with Dynamic Group. The project, designed by Baker Barrios Architects, will feature retail, wellness spaces and a pedestrian paseo to improve connectivity in the urban core.
