Midtown Tampa lands TeamViewer as global tech firm’s U.S. base

TeamViewer’s move to Midtown Tampa highlights the region’s growing appeal as a national hub for innovation, talent, and global business investment.

Tampa Bay’s growing technology sector has landed another global name.

TeamViewer, a worldwide leader in remote connectivity and digital workplace solutions, will relocate its U.S. headquarters to Midtown East in Tampa. The move marks a major win for the region’s innovation economy and reinforces the city’s rise as a national tech hub.

“Relocating TeamViewer’s U.S. headquarters to Midtown East is a tremendous addition to the momentum we’re seeing in Tampa,” said Lauren Coup, senior vice president and Tampa market leader for Highwoods Properties. “At Highwoods, we view every tenant as a valued customer, and through our partnership with Bromley Companies, Midtown East was designed with their needs in mind to attract world-class companies and provide them with a home to grow.”

A new kind of workplace

TeamViewer serves more than 660,000 customers globally and will occupy 26,389 square feet in Midtown East. The company cited the building’s amenities, proximity to Tampa International Airport and modern, mixed-use environment as key factors in its decision.

“We chose Midtown East because it offers incredible modern office space within a vibrant mixed-use community,” said Georg Beyschlag, TeamViewer’s Americas president. “With unmatched amenities, green space and proximity to the airport, this location will help us attract top talent and support our global customers.”

Midtown East nears full occupancy

Midtown East, a 440,000-square-foot joint venture between Highwoods Properties and Bromley Companies, is now more than 90% leased. Tenants include TECO Energy, Booz Allen Hamilton and Energy Insurance Mutual.

Developed as part of the $1 billion, 23-acre Midtown Tampa district, the building integrates office, retail, residential and hospitality space into a connected urban hub.

“Midtown Tampa was envisioned as a place where top employers, like TeamViewer, could thrive alongside an activated mix of businesses and amenities,” said Nick Haines of Bromley Companies. “This headquarters move is a powerful signal of the district’s success and Tampa’s continued rise as a destination for business and innovation.”

Tampa’s tech trajectory

According to city data, Tampa’s technology sector has grown 30% over the past five years and is projected to add another 3,700 jobs by 2027, a 14% increase. Companies ranging from startups to Fortune 500s are expanding their footprint in the city, drawn by quality of life, infrastructure and access to skilled talent.

“Tampa is widely recognized as an emerging technology hub in the U.S.,” said Craig Richard, president and CEO of the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council. “From start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, Tampa is where technology companies thrive. Everything from its strategic location to the elevated amenities makes it an ideal office space for technology companies.”

Mayor Jane Castor said TeamViewer’s decision underscores Tampa’s momentum. “The world is taking notice. Tampa is on the map as a rising tech hub and international destination for innovation and opportunity,” she said. “We are thrilled to welcome a global leader in innovation, TeamViewer, to Tampa’s growing technology community.”

Why it matters

Tampa’s ability to attract a global brand like TeamViewer underscores its competitive edge amid a national slowdown in commercial real estate. While many markets face rising vacancy rates, Midtown East stands out as a case study in how mixed-use development and public-private partnerships can drive demand.

With TeamViewer’s arrival, Tampa strengthens its position as one of the Southeast’s leading tech destinations, built on collaboration, innovation and community.
