The Florida Department of Transportation’s District 7 has awarded a five-year, $31 million contract to Iteris Inc. to operate the Tampa Bay region’s Regional Transportation Management Center.
The agreement, announced April 22, continues Iteris’ role overseeing traffic systems across Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties. The contract covers round-the-clock operation of the center, including monitoring road conditions, detecting incidents and coordinating responses across the regional network.
Iteris will deliver the work with Lucent Group Inc., providing highway and managed lanes operations, arterial traffic coordination and integrated corridor management. The scope also includes incident response support and the information systems used to track and manage traffic in real time.

The Regional Transportation Management Center coordinates traffic across 12 jurisdictions, linking freeway and arterial systems and serving as the hub for incident detection and response on major roadways.
The contract extends a long-standing relationship between FDOT and Iteris and reflects continued state spending on traffic operations, not just road construction. The program supports faster incident clearance and more coordinated system management across connected roadways, which can affect travel times across the region.
Iteris, based in Austin, Texas, provides data, software and consulting services for transportation agencies and infrastructure operators. The company is part of Italy-based Almaviva Group, which operates across transportation, public administration and other sectors globally.
FDOT did not disclose a start date or additional procurement details.
