With hurricane season approaching, Pinellas County and the City of St. Petersburg are teaming up to host a free Hurricane Preparedness Day expo on Saturday, May 31, to help residents get ready.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Willis S. Johns Recreation Center, located at 6635 Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. St. N., in St. Petersburg. It is free and open to the public, with a variety of activities and resources to help families and business owners prepare for the 2025 hurricane season.
The expo will feature presentations from weather experts, including Spectrum Bay News 9 meteorologist Diane Kacmarik and Ross Giarratana of the National Weather Service. Attendees will also have the chance to win a free generator and will receive free hurricane kit supplies, as well as the 2025 edition of the Pinellas County Hurricane Guide.
The event also includes a kids’ zone with weather-themed arts and crafts, a playground and free popcorn and snow cones. Residents can learn more about how to prepare for hurricane season at disaster.pinellas.gov.
