Charter Capital opens Tampa office, expanding national presence

Director Zach Wiersma will lead firm’s Southeast growth from new Florida location
Jo-Lynn Brown July 1, 2025

Charter Capital, a Grand Rapids-based investment banking and advisory firm, has announced the opening of a new office in Tampa.

The Tampa operation will be led by Zach Wiersma, a director with the firm since 2019. Recognized as one of the industry’s rising stars, Wiersma was recently named a “2025 Investment Banker to Watch,” by Middle Market Growth Magazine and was honored as Young Dealmaker of the Year by Crain’s Grand Rapids Business.

“Tampa’s business climate mirrors what we love about Grand Rapids — an entrepreneurial spirit, rapid growth and a culture where relationships matter,” said Wiersma, who is relocating from West Michigan to head the new office.

Though headquartered in Michigan, Charter Capital has long advised clients across the country, with roughly half its transactions involving out-of-state deals. The move to Tampa underscores the firm’s commitment to building a stronger presence in the Southeast, particularly in sectors such as industrial services, manufacturing, distribution and furniture, according to a statement.
