Haven to close May 21 for new oyster house concept

Haven will close May 21, as a new seafood concept, Peddler + Potter Oyster House, moves forward with a fall 2027 opening at 2208 W. Morrison Ave. in South Tampa, leaving the space closed for more than a year before the new concept opens.

“As we looked at the future of the property, this was the right moment to bring Peddler + Potter to life,” Executive Chef Chad Johnson said.

The new restaurant will feature a daily-changing seafood menu, anchored by a raw bar centered on Florida oysters.

The Morrison Avenue site sits a few blocks from Bern’s Steak House and anchors the group’s South Tampa presence. Many Haven employees will remain with the company, according to Bern’s Steak House Group.

The redesign will center on an open kitchen with a custom-built hearth and a Montague range. Kimmich Smith Architecture, JAI The Collective, TBCI Design, Nelson Construction and Vers Creative are part of the project team.
