Ellison, Alfonso and Capitano families purchase historic Ybor building for $9.25 million

Three major Tampa Bay players in construction, development and design have, together, acquired a building in Ybor City.

The building, located at 2000 E. 11th Ave., Ybor City, is 37,385 square feet and was built in 1894. The property was purchased for $9.25 million, according to public records.

“We’re big believers in Ybor. Its rich and vibrant culture was what drew us to the neighborhood for our headquarters years ago and that vibrancy has only grown,” said Casey Ellison, president of Ellison Construction. “We’re excited to see what this historic property will become.”

According to a timeline in the historic building, it was built in 1894 by the M. Stachelberg & Co. Cigar Factory.

“I’m happy that a part of Tampa’s history is in the hands of these historic Ybor families,” says Wright.

Alliant Partners Development, led by managing partners Carlos Alfonso and Frank Capitano, has a longstanding partnership with Alfonso Architects, helmed by Albert Alfonso, the founding principal and president along with his brother and partner Carlos.

“We’re excited to own a piece of Ybor’s history with our friends and partners, the Alfonsos and the Ellisons,” Capitano said, in a statement. “As a group, we all respect Ybor’s enduring spirit and unique energy. So, when this opportunity presented itself, we jumped at the chance to own such an iconic property.”
