One Liners Polk: MySky Aviation, Community Health Care Section and more


North Lakeland will get a new Lakeland Hills Fire Rescue EMS Station, designed by CMHM Architects, for a 4,000-square-foot facility to serve as a prototype for other county facilities in the future.

A new, state-of-the-art, Veterans Affairs clinic opened, in south Lakeland, at 2080 Meadowland Park Blvd, behind the Sam’s Club, on Lakeland Highlands Road. 

The Community Health Care Section will purchase a 2025 Freightliner M2-106 model mobile medical unit with a cab and chassis for $600,000, which will replace an aging mobile medical unit and allow the health organization to continue providing health screenings, vaccinations and education to Polk County residents.

Lake Buffum, located in southern Polk County, is getting a new boat ramp with a walled channel that will allow for year-round boating and fishing.

Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine will help provide county-funded behavioral health services to qualified residents that are at, or below, 200% of the Federal Poverty Level, in Polk County.

MySky Aviation Solutions, a private aviation company in Lakeland, appointed Kyle Garren as the vice president of charter sales and logistics. 

Central Florida Speech and Hearing Center will utilize $291,000 in Indigent Health Care funds to purchase and build-out two cargo vans, converting them into mobile audiology vans.

La Gran Muralla, a hidden speakeasy-style restaurant, opened at 2810 Lakeland Highlands Road, Lakeland. (Hint: Look for the Coca-Cola vending machine) 

Rodda Construction is improving Simmers-Young Park, in Winter Haven, at a cost of about $5.8 million, to convert five grass soccer fields to artificial turf, add two concession stands/restrooms and new athletic field lighting. 

Stacy Butterfield, Polk County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller, received the Legislative Impact Award from the Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers  Association.

The Polk County Housing and Neighborhood Development Division is soliciting proposals from builders to provide affordable rental developments, in Bartow, to feature approximately 80 units for low-income seniors, and there will be a Winter Haven development featuring more than 80 multi-family units.
