How you can help Metropolitan Ministries before Thanksgiving

As Thanksgiving approaches, Metropolitan Ministries is facing a 23% drop in donations compared to last year, while the number of families needing assistance has increased by 20%.

With just days left to help, the organization is calling for support to ensure 1,800 families in need are served, through its Holiday Tents.

How You Can Help:

Donate food & items: Needed items include frozen turkeys, canned vegetables, stuffing, boxed potatoes, gift cards and toys for kids ages 4-17.

Make a monetary donation: All monetary donations will be matched by a generous donor, doubling the impact of your gift.

Volunteer: Help sort and distribute food at the holiday tents.

Donation Deadline: Donations will be accepted through Wednesday, Nov. 27. The Tampa and West Pasco Holiday Tents will close early, at 2 p.m. on Nov. 27, to prepare for Thanksgiving Day.

Thanksgiving Meal Prep: On Thanksgiving Day, meals will be prepared for families in need. Meals will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at The Portico Café, in Tampa, and Healing Hearts Café, in Zephyrhills.

Metro is also preparing for Christmas, with more than 15,000 families and 30,000 children relying on the organization. Donation locations reopen on Dec. 2.
