TPA looks ahead: $91 million contract approved for Airside D preparations (New renderings)

Hillsborough County Aviation Authority board members have approved a $91 million contract to begin preparations for the expansion of Airside D, at Tampa International Airport.

The contract includes installing security fencing, removing concrete, setting up contractor offices and conducting utility work.

Groundbreaking for Airside D is scheduled for Dec. 18. The $1.5 billion project, set to open in 2028, will increase TPA’s capacity to accommodate up to 35 million annual passengers by 2037, compared to the 25 million passengers it currently serves.

New renderings, provided by the design-build team led by Hensel Phelps and HNTB Corp., in association with Gensler, offer a detailed preview of what travelers can expect once the terminal is complete.
