South Tampa Chamber highlights achievements, honors award winners (PHOTOS)

The South Tampa Chamber of Commerce hosted its Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony, on Dec. 11, at the Centre Club.

The event, presented by Tampa General Hospital, highlighted the Chamber’s activities over the past year including welcoming 140 new members, hosting 80 events with more than 6,500 participants and supporting 35 ribbon cuttings for local businesses.

Tara Moody, the 2024 Chair of the Board, reflected on the Chamber’s impact: “This year, we’ve enhanced our advocacy efforts, expanded educational programs, supported the community during hurricane season and developed our young professionals programming. These efforts demonstrate the progress we’ve made in 2024.”

The evening also recognized individuals and businesses for their contributions to the Chamber and the broader community.

2024 Award Winners:

Member of the Year: PamElla Lee Perkins, PamElla Lee Photography

New Member Spotlight: Christi Slaven, Professor Posture

Volunteer of the Year: Connie Gage, Smith & Associates Real Estate

Ambassador of the Year: Dale Nabors, Realtor

Chairman’s Award: Elizabeth Montante, ZIPs Cleaners & Qdoba Mexican Eats

Dotti Groover-Skipper, founder of the HeartDance Foundation, was named 2024 Citizen of the Year. The HeartDance Foundation supports individuals affected by sex trafficking and the sex industry.

Corporal Gig Brown, of the Tampa Police Department, received the 2024 Hero Award for his dedication to public safety and his role in the Business Watch Program, which fosters collaboration between law enforcement and local businesses.

Incoming Chair of the Board Tanya Cielo, owner of Sky Strategic Marketing, shared her vision for the future: “As we prepare for 2025, and the Chamber’s centennial celebration in 2026, we are focused on achieving our goals and building on this year’s successes.”
