Demolition is starting soon for Gallery Haus, a $125M mixed-use tower in downtown St. Petersburg.
The milestone comes after the development team secured a $6M site work loan from Osprey Capital and named KAST Construction as the general contractor for the 23-story project.
LD&D and Black Salmon are leading the development, with LD&D partner IGEQ also participating.
The site is at 155 17th Street South near Tropicana Field and the Historic Gas Plant District, which remains one of the most closely watched areas in the region.
What Gallery Haus will bring
Gallery Haus will include 254 homes along with more than 10,000 square feet of amenities and coworking space.
Plans also call for a wellness and fitness center facing the Pinellas Trail and a lobby-level coffee shop as part of the ground-floor retail.
“Gallery Haus reflects the type of forward looking development contributing to the next era of St. Petersburg” said Diego Bonet, managing partner of LD&D. “With demolition ready to go we are taking the first step toward delivering housing that reflects the market’s demand for walkable and design driven living environments that match the energy and growth drawing people and investment to the city.”
A model proven in Miami
The project builds on the team’s work with Wynwood Haus in Miami. Many of the same features that resonated with renters there will carry into St. Petersburg. The goal is to create a strong live-work-play setting that stays active throughout the day.
“The start of demolition marks another important step in our partnership with LD&D and our vision for St. Petersburg,” said Camilo Lopez, managing partner of Black Salmon. “Gallery Haus reflects our confidence in the market’s direction and our focus on projects that can create lasting value for residents and the community.”
A Strategic location in a growing area
The development sits within a Downtown St. Petersburg Opportunity Zone at the intersection of the Edge District and the Warehouse District.
Both areas are known for art galleries, restaurants and entertainment venues. Residents will have direct access to the 75-mile Pinellas Trail and fast connections to the waterfront and museums.
As major redevelopment efforts continue near Tropicana Field, Gallery Haus joins a group of projects that are reshaping the future of the city and reinforcing St. Petersburg’s growing role in Florida’s urban economy.

- The project supports continued investment momentum in downtown St. Petersburg
- It strengthens a walkable corridor that connects the Edge District, the Warehouse District and Tropicana Field
- The start of demolition signals real movement at a time when many projects remain stalled
