Walmart to remodel 58 Florida stores, including Tampa site

Walmart plans to remodel 58 stores across Florida in 2026, including a Tampa location, as the retailer continues to invest in its physical footprint while expanding digital and delivery capabilities.

The Bentonville, Arkansas-based company said the upgrades will focus on store layouts, technology and service offerings designed to improve both in-store and online shopping. The changes are intended to support faster delivery, expanded digital tools and a more integrated customer experience across channels.

The Tampa Supercenter at 2701 E. Fletcher Ave. is among the locations slated for renovation.

The announcement builds on Walmart’s $1.5 billion investment in Florida over the past five years, which has included store upgrades and new locations in several growth markets.

The company has recently opened stores in Apollo Beach, Jacksonville and The Villages, and plans additional locations this year in markets including Spring Hill and Lady Lake.

Company officials said the remodels reflect shifts in consumer behavior, particularly increased demand for convenience, delivery and digital integration.

Planned updates include enhanced in-store navigation through Walmart’s app, expanded pharmacy services and improvements to pickup and delivery operations, including same-day fulfillment in many areas.

“By modernizing our stores, we’re making shopping easier, whether customers are walking the aisles, picking up an order or having essentials delivered,” said Nick Berkeley, senior vice president of Walmart’s Southeast business unit.

Each remodel is expected to generate construction activity and support long-term jobs in retail and pharmacy. Updated stores will also include expanded clinical services, vision centers and broader general merchandise offerings.

Beyond its store investments, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation reported $138.7 million in donations to Florida nonprofits over the past year, including food distribution efforts to address hunger statewide.

The remodel program is part of a broader national plan to upgrade more than 650 stores this year, as Walmart continues to position its locations as part of its fulfillment network supporting e-commerce growth.
