Multiple sclerosis patients in northern Hillsborough County have a new treatment option after a Clearwater-based specialty practice opened its second Tampa Bay center in Lutz.
The MS & Neuromuscular Center of Excellence developed the Lutz center in partnership with Nira Medical. The facility includes on-site infusion services and will offer patients opportunities to participate in clinical research.
Dr. Mark Cascione will lead the center, 30 years after joining Tampa Neurology Associates. He later launched the South Tampa MS Center and, according to Nira Medical, has participated in more than 300 clinical trials as a principal investigator or sub-investigator.
The Lutz center is accepting new patients, as Cascione said Tampa Bay’s growth has increased the need for specialized MS care in the region.
“As the Tampa Bay region continues to grow, there is an increasing need for comprehensive care that can meet patients where they are,” Cascione said.
