Tampa Defense Contractor Lands Global Peace Corps Contract

Tampa-based defense contractor Trace Systems has won a five-year contract to provide emergency satellite communications for the Peace Corps at 60 overseas posts, keeping personnel connected in remote areas where cellular networks and landlines are unavailable.

The agreement extends the company’s existing work with the federal agency, which relies on satellite phones to contact headquarters during emergencies. Trace announced the award Tuesday, Oct. 20, but did not disclose its value.

Under the contract, Trace will provide 24-hour voice service, two-way text messaging, voicemail and international roaming for satellite phones already deployed worldwide. The company will also maintain existing phone numbers, provide technical support and training, and expand coverage as the Peace Corps enters new locations.

“Peace Corps personnel operate in some of the most remote environments in the world, where dependable communication isn’t just helpful; it’s essential to safety, coordination, and emergency response,” said John Reilly, Trace’s vice president of growth operations.

Trace Systems specializes in satellite communications, cybersecurity and technology services for government and defense operations worldwide.
