Ferguson, a Fortune 500 company with $31.3 billion in annual sales, will open a corporate office at Gasworx in Ybor City, taking 50,570 square feet and bringing the building’s office space to full occupancy before construction is complete.
The plumbing, HVAC and waterworks distributor plans to begin operating from Gasworx in April 2027, with executive leadership roles and other business functions among the first operations expected to move there. The office also will serve as a training, development and onboarding hub for Ferguson, which employs about 35,000 people across more than 1,700 North American locations.
“We chose Tampa for its strong accessibility and connectivity to our locations across all 50 states and every province of Canada,” Ferguson CEO Kevin Murphy said. Tampa International Airport and the mix of uses planned around the office contributed to the decision, he said.
Ferguson does not disclose in the announcement how many employees will work from Tampa, which executive positions will move here or how many positions will represent new local jobs rather than relocations. The company remains headquartered in Newport News, Virginia.
Ferguson will occupy nearly half of the six-story, 110,000-square-foot office and retail building, which remains under construction and is scheduled for completion in December. Grow Financial Federal Credit Union previously committed to the project, and the two leases now account for all of its office space.
The building, designed by S9 Architecture and Smallwood and under construction by Moss, will include a rooftop deck, outdoor terraces and a lobby café and bar, with direct access to Gasworx’s planned retail and dining marketplace.
Ferguson joined the S&P 500 on Aug. 5 and serves residential and commercial construction markets across North America, selling plumbing, HVAC, appliances, lighting, waterworks and industrial products.
Gasworx encompasses about 50 acres in Ybor City and is being developed by KETTLER, Tampa developer Darryl Shaw and PPF Real Estate. Plans call for thousands of residences, office and retail space, public gathering areas, pedestrian improvements and a new TECO Line Streetcar stop. Ferguson and Grow Financial are expected to bring hundreds of employees into the district each day.
