Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco kicks off CEO Build week

Community leaders, from organizations in the Tampa Bay area, are working together to build a home for a local family, in the Lealman community, in St. Petersburg.

This week, Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties launched its second annual CEO Build, led by honorary Chairs Bill Brand, chief executive officer of Rue21 and Habitat for Humanity International Board Member Mindy Grossman, former president and CEO of WW (formerly Weight Watchers) and Ryan Ross, president of Neiman Marcus.

In 2022, Habitat introduced the inaugural CEO Build, where 55 CEOs raised more than $140,000 to sponsor the Middlebrooks Family home, in Pinellas Park.

This year, the group of leaders are building a home for Alex Diaz, Christina Gonzales and their three children, Olivia, Jackson and Vivian, according to a statement.

“At Habitat, we partner with businesses across our service area to help local families achieve the dream of affordable homeownership,” says Mike Sutton, president and CEO of Habitat Pinellas and West Pasco. “We are fortunate to have so many local organizations committing to bettering their community through their corporate social responsibly initiatives.”

Three build days have been scheduled for the CEOs to volunteer on the Diaz-Gonzales home, at 2773 Grove Park Ave. N., St. Petersburg.

Friday, February 17, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Friday, February 24, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Friday, March 10, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Habitat Pinellas and West Pasco has partnered with Tampa Bay Business and Wealth Magazine to highlight the project and those that participate. Bridgette Bello, CEO and publisher of TBBW, will be working alongside the business leaders to help build Alex Diaz and Christina Gonzales’ home.

“Giving back to this amazing community, in which we live, has been a mission of TBBW from the very beginning. We are blessed to have a platform that engages the business leaders of Tampa Bay and we will continue to use our voice to inspire others to give back in memorable ways. This partnership will allow us to bring together recognizable influencers, with a large employee base, to bring awareness to a compelling cause – access to the American dream of homeownership for all,” says Bello.
