Tampa-based XTEND lands Israeli defense contract

XTEND, the Tampa-based defense technology company preparing to go public through a $1.5 billion merger, has won a $1.67 million contract with Israel’s Ministry of Defense to supply operational drone systems, the company announced April 21.

The agreement calls for delivery of the systems and related services during 2026 and adds to XTEND’s contract pipeline as it scales production ahead of its planned public listing.

The award follows recent activity for the company, including the start of drone deliveries under a Middle East contract valued at up to $25 million and the deployment of its global operator network in response to regional conflict. Together, the developments show a steady increase in demand for the company’s systems across active defense environments.

XTEND develops human-guided drone platforms designed for use in high-risk settings where direct access is limited. Its systems run on the company’s proprietary operating system, which allows operators to control multiple robotic platforms in real time across air, ground and maritime missions.

Company officials said the new contract reflects continued demand from defense agencies for systems that can be deployed quickly and operate beyond line of sight in complex environments. XTEND has deployed more than 10,000 systems in over 30 countries, including use in combat zones.

The contract comes as XTEND moves toward a planned merger with JFB Construction Holdings. The combined company is expected to be named XTEND AI Robotics and list on Nasdaq under the ticker XTND, pending closing conditions in mid-2026.

XTEND established its U.S. headquarters and manufacturing operation in Tampa in 2025, leasing space at Crossroads Industrial Center and outlining plans to create up to 100 jobs. The company cited proximity to MacDill Air Force Base, home to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command, as a key factor in selecting the region.

The company has said the merger will support expanded domestic production, including at its Tampa facility, as it increases deliveries to U.S., allied and international defense customers.

Additional operational details related to the Israeli contract were not disclosed.
