The Valspar Championship will move from its longtime March slot to May beginning in 2027, pushing Tampa Bay’s PGA TOUR event deeper into the spring sports calendar ahead of Florida’s summer weather cycle.
The tournament will run May 6-9, 2027, with the final round scheduled for Mother’s Day.
Tournament Director Tracy West said the later date should still attract a strong field while avoiding the heaviest stretch of Florida’s summer weather.
“There are a lot of moving parts involved with creating the PGA TOUR schedule,” West said. “When we look at all of the tournaments involved, we feel good about this move. Our date is favorable for us to continue to attract a very strong field and falls before the brunt of the summer weather.”

The tournament previously operated in a similar May window in 2021 after pandemic-related disruptions reshaped the PGA TOUR schedule.
Played on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, the Valspar Championship remains one of Tampa Bay’s largest annual sports tourism events, generating national television exposure, corporate hospitality business and hotel demand across northern Pinellas County.
Matt Fitzpatrick is expected to defend his title after winning the tournament by one shot in March.
The tournament will announce its 2026 charitable contribution totals June 10 at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, where General Chair Rondé Barber and former Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden are expected to attend.
The Valspar Championship said it has contributed more than $53 million to charity since 1978, including more than $1.6 million last year.
