South Seas on Captiva Island is opening a new 2.5-acre waterpark on Dec. 22. The resort announced Captiva Landing as a major family attraction that includes slides, a lazy river, a kids club, food spots and an arcade. Access is limited to South Seas guests and Club Captiva owners.

The opening signals strong confidence in Florida tourism and marks another step in the resort’s long-term recovery. With travel demand rising across Southwest Florida, Captiva Landing positions the property for a stronger season and adds more options for families seeking simple island fun.

General Manager Shawn Farrell said Captiva Landing is the resort’s largest family addition and was designed to support simple, memorable experiences.

The waterpark joins other new features at South Seas, including Beach House restaurant, Harborside Italian steakhouse and a full-service spa.

What’s now?

South Seas continues a multi-year refresh after major storms disrupted operations on Captiva Island. New dining, recreation and wellness additions reflect the resort’s push to create a modern and resilient guest experience.

Tourism leaders across Southwest Florida are closely monitoring the project as resorts vie for visitors seeking outdoor recreation.

    • The opening highlights a shift toward family-friendly, activity-driven amenities that encourage longer stays and support year-round travel.
  • For travelers and parents:
    • Families visiting Captiva Island will see more on-site entertainment and more food and play options without leaving the resort.
  • For Southwest Florida residents:
    • The expansion signals confidence in the region’s tourism recovery and may boost seasonal activity for nearby businesses.
