Veteran Tampa Bay banker joins Encore Bank board

Rita Lowman, former president of Pilot Bank, now LMCU, has been appointed to the board of directors for Encore Bank.

Lowman is a 45-year banking veteran with career highlights including managing 23 acquisitions, including the NationsBank-Barnett merger, in 1997.

“Encore Bank is delighted to welcome Rita to its board of directors,” said Chris Roberts, Encore’s chairman and chief executive officer, in a statement “Her leadership and accomplishments have made her a star in the industry and a role model for women in banking. We are confident she will be an invaluable asset to Encore and look forward to her significant contribution to our board.”

Elected chair of the Florida Bankers Association in 2017, Lowman was the third woman to serve in this capacity in its 130-year history. She also served on the American Bankers Board of Directors and as vice chair of its Government Relations Council and Community Council Board.

Lowman served as the chair of the 2020-2022 ReliaQuest Bowl and serves, or has served, on a number of other boards including the Florida School of Banking at the University of Florida, the Southeastern Cabinet of the American Cancer Society, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce and the Florida Aquarium. In 2021 Lowman was the chair of Go Red for the American Heart Association and the Dean’s Advisory Board for the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. She also currently sits on the board for Caldwell Trust, a boutique regional firm based in Venice.
