Tampa Bay Business Women Awards 2023: Joanne LeBlanc

Joanne LeBlanc began her career at Colliers in 2008, at the start of the Great Recession. At the time, Colliers was only hiring for a marketing position. LeBlanc accepted the position and used it as a steppingstone to learn the trade.

In 2012, she moved into the brokerage side of the business and, in 2015, she solicited an 86,000-square-foot office user who hired her team, and her, as their tenant representative. From that client she gained a Top Producer title, the Largest Office Lease transaction in 2016 and completed eight other office leases, throughout the nation, with that company and the executives affiliated with it.

Since then, she has completed more than $300 million in transaction value totaling over 5 million square feet in deals closed.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST FAILURE? HOW DID YOU BOUNCE BACK?

So. Many. Failures. So many cold calls gone bad, doors slammed in my face, industry colleagues diminishing me and stabbing me in the back, not paying me on deals, saying I’m not good enough for the job, or me saying stupid, or inaccurate, statistics in pitches … I bounce back by putting it all in the rearview mirror and moving on. Every day. Just move on. Don’t dwell, don’t kick yourself, just learn and move on. Also, my tenacious nature really helps. I live by one motto: “Everything’s a guaranteed no, unless you ask.”

Women empowerment means playing in the big-boy league. Crush the glass ceiling. Do it and have it ALL!
