Heavenly Hash Creamery, based in Clearwater, makes ice cream infused with cannabidiol, or CBD oil. Derived from marijuana, the oil is touted as helping with a number of ailments including pain, nausea and inflammation. Susan Scherer, an oncology nurse, founded the company and found through interactions with cancer patients and families that there was a need for better nutrition. Patients were unable to taste, swallow and would succumb to muscle wasting and weight loss.
She created an ice cream that stimulates the taste buds and provides the health benefits attributed to cannabidiol. For those who don’t need the high fat and high protein, the company also offers another line without them. The ice cream comes in several flavors, such as salted caramel, creamy cocoa and lemon blueberry.
